The Netherlands - Sprint

To amplify the excitement for what is the last Dutch Grand Prix for quite a while, a sprint has been added to the weekend, providing viewers with not one but two point-scoring sessions.  

After Friday's qualifying, George Russell was set to start the short race on pole, with Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc close behind, hoping to catch up and steal a few points off his back. The latter specifically appeared to have a daring approach, as he was one of the only two drivers on the grid who opted to race on soft tires. All other contenders used the medium compound. 

The alternate strategy did not give the Ferrari driver the edge he may have hoped for, and he remained third, chased by Kimi Antonelli, who found himself fourth having overtaken Oscar Piastri. Russell's clean start allowed him to keep the lead, but Norris was not far behind, determined not to make it an easy victory for his fellow Brit. He pressed for as long as he could, but eventually fell away from the Mercedes, instead falling into the clutches of Leclerc. The two spent a good part of the sprint locked in the battle for second position. Ultimately, it was the Monegasque who triumphed, overtaking the McLaren on lap 18.

The other drivers fighting for points remained in relatively unchanged order throughout the duration of the sprint. Russell took the much-needed win, gaining three points on his teammate and immediate championship rival.
